![]() And honestly? It’s not that far from the truth. I've seen a lot of memes that said that Oddisee is what J.Cole thinks he sounds like. The most odd thing about Oddisee’s music, is that he is an distinctly underground rapper with a discography that could blow up any day. In my opinion, he hasn't dropped the ball since, and every follow up has been between great and phenomenal. We had to wait until 2012 with People Hear What They See to get a full-blown album where he rapped on every track. His first studio album, 102, had a few solo tracks from him but most of tracks were beat remixes of his last beat tape. His last two albums have been completely clean, even omitting the n-word. Since 2015, he essentially dropped cursing from his music. ![]() ![]() His first mixtape Foot In The Door sound reminiscent of Clipse / Tribe on some songs, as well as old soulful Kanye on some others. Style-wise, Oddisee’s rapping has consistently evolved throughout his career. Oddisee's breaking point (relative to the underground still) is probably between 20, where he released People Hear What The See, the instrumental album The Beauty in All, and Tangible Dream, which are all great projects and with songs like Own Appeal and Killin Time that are still his biggest to date. Oddisee has been making music for over a decade, his first mixtapes go as far back as 2005, and his first album available on a streaming platform, 102, was released in 2008. ![]()
